The Richardson Police Department is currently accepting applications for its annual Youth Citizen Police Academy, which will be held June 12-16 from 8:30 a.m.-noon (with extended Thursday hours).

The program is free and open to teens ages 13-17 who live or attend school in Richardson.

Students will get an inside look at the different areas of the department including SWAT, K-9, Communications and Crime Scene Investigations, and discuss topics such as crash investigations and drunk and distracted driving awareness.

The Youth Citizen Police Academy will be held at PD Headquarters, located at 200 N. Greenville Ave.

The deadline to submit applications is May 19.
