A winter weather advisory is in effect for the surrounding area from noon today to Thursday morning. There’s also a possibility for snow and icy conditions on streets, especially elevated roads.
These conditions always come with the possibility of power outages and other impacts. If needed, the lobby of the Richardson Police Department, 200 N. Greenville Ave., has been designated as a warming center for those needing shelter from extreme winter weather.
The facility will open tonight at 5 p.m. (Tuesday, Jan. 24) and will stay open 24 hours a day until it is no longer needed.
