The Texas Trees Foundation, State Farm and Arbor Day Foundation will be distributing free trees Saturday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Richardson to help reforest damaged and lost trees from the 2019 tornado.

Each tree will be accompanied by a bag of mulch and tree planting and maintenance instructions. People who register to receive a tree agree to water and tend to the trees during its establishment period. The event is one of 16 national projects focused on areas that have been significantly damaged by natural disasters, including wildfires, major storms, and urban heat.

The tree giveaway is taking place at Dallas College Richland Campus, Parking Lot C at 12800  Abrams Rd. across from the TXU Energy Urban Tree Farm and Education Center.  Pre-registration pick up takes place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and walk up registration is from 11 a.m. to noon.
