Just a few more days left to take your Christmas tree to the City’s Tree Cycling drop-off location—Tree Cycling ends Monday, Feb. 1 at the Municipal Service Center, 1260 Columbia Dr. After that, you may continue to set out trees and other brush and bulky items at the curb and picked up as part of the City’s Brush and Bulky Item Collection (BABIC).
Tree cycling guidelines:
- Trees must be natural (not artificial) and unflocked.
- All ornaments, tinsel, tree stands, nails, lights, etc., must be removed.
- Calls for BABIC must be received before the designated collection day (your BABIC day is the same as your recycling day).
The trees are turned into mulch and compost thanks to a regional partnership between Richardson, Plano, Allen, McKinney, Frisco and Texas Pure; it is used in landscaping by the cities and offered to the public for purchase. Residents of the five member cities receive a discount.
Contact: 972-744-4111 for BABIC pick-up; be sure to request that the tree be collected for composting
