Celebrate Richardson’s annual Trash Bash on Saturday, April 15, with trash cleanups organized by community groups and individuals taking place across the city from 9-11 a.m., as well as eco-friendly drive-thru events at three different locations beginning in the morning and extending into the afternoon.
Drive-thru events taking place at each location include:
First United Methodist Church Richardson parking lot, 503 N. Central Expwy., 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
- One free bag of compost or mulch will be given out per car, while supplies last, provided by City of Richardson Public Services
- Donate NEW shelf-stable food items including baking supplies, breakfast foods, boxed meals, canned meals and soups; new hygiene items, diapers (for both kids and adults), and baby wipes; new underwear and socks for kids and adults (all benefit clients of Network of Community Ministries)
- Drop off used eyeglasses (for Lions Club beneficiaries)
- Drop off residential cooking oil/grease (in lidded, plastic containers) (collected by the City to keep it out of the water system and recycled into biofuels)
City Hall parking lot, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (benefits Friends of the Library biannual book sales)
- Collection of books, CDs and DVDs (no cassette tapes, magazines or encyclopedias)
Richardson Square Mall parking lot, north end, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (sponsored by the Richardson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association):
- Document shredding
- Electronics collection (for recycling or disposal—cell phones, flat screen TVs and monitors, audio/video, printers, peripherals)
