The City’s annual Trash Bash takes place Saturday, April 20 and will continue the tradition of collecting household items in addition to trash and recyclables.  

The following items will be collected via “drive-thru” outside First United Methodist Church, 503 N. Central Expressway, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.: 

For Network of Community Ministries 

  • Underwear for kids and adults (new and in original packaging) 
  • Socks for kids and adults (new and in original packaging)  
  • Baking supplies (baking mixes, cooking oil, etc.) 
  • Breakfast foods (oatmeal, granola bars, etc.) 
  • Boxed meals (boxed mashed potatoes, Hamburger Helper, etc.) 
  • Canned meals (ravioli, lasagna, spaghetti) 
  • Canned soups 
  • Hygiene items (toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, shampoo, conditioner—unused sample sizes as well as full sizes are welcome!) 
  • Diapers (sizes 3+) 
  • Baby wipes 
  • Adult diapers  

For Lions Club’s Recycle for Sight program 

  • Used eyeglasses  

By the Richardson Health Department 

  • Used residential cooking oil  

The following items will be collected via drive-thru at Richardson Square Mall parking lot, 501 S. Plano Rd., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: 

Benefits Richardson Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association 
While this is a free event, donations are appreciated. All funds raised go to support the Richardson Police Department.  

  • Documents (to be shredded and disposed of; please bring only paper that needs shredding; place other paper such as newspapers and magazines in your blue recycling bags for home collection) 
  • Electronics (cell phones, flat screen TVs and monitors, audio/video, printers, peripherals)
