The City’s monthly tests of the Outdoor Warning System will expand to three minutes this month, in keeping with the siren manufacturer’s recommendations. The tests have been gradually lengthening to reach this point since January, when all Richardson siren units were updated with new components.

A three-minute test will now take place at noon on the first Wednesday of each month, weather permitting. In addition, short-burst, 14-second growl tests are conducted with the sirens on all other Wednesdays each month.

Siren tests are canceled if there is inclement weather or overcast skies in the area during the time of the test.
