The City would like to thank all residents who helped conserve water Thursday night after storms knocked out power and backup power to Richardson’s water pumping facilities. Once the power went out, the City notified residents who live west of US 75 via its social media channels as well as its Emergency Notification System to request they only use water for emergency needs. Oncor restored power to the facility after about 3 ½ hours, at which time the City was able to begin pumping water to refill storage tanks and service was restored to normal around 3 a.m.
Backup power systems have also since been examined, and the cause of their failure has been identified and corrected to help avert such impacts in the future.
