The City of Richardson’s Office of Emergency Management will test the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry (STEAR) on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. This test notification will only be sent to people who have signed up to receive the alerts through 211 and stear.tdem.texas.gov. Test notifications will be sent through text, e-mail and phone calls to ensure the system works correctly.
The STEAR program is intended for those who may need additional assistance, such as people with disabilities, those who have limited mobility, and individuals who are medically fragile. This free registry provides local emergency planners and emergency responders with additional information. Registering in STEAR does not guarantee you will receive specific assistance during emergencies.
