City staff and consultants informed the City Council Monday on the progress of the Solid Waste Master Plan Update, which began in October and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The update is part of the Tactics created to meet the City Council’s 2023-25 Goals.
The last Solid Waste Services Master Plan was completed 10 years ago, and new development, along with changes in equipment, make it an opportune time for a review.
Components of the updating process will include:
- Reviewing and evaluating current Solid Waste operations (trash/recycling collection), including routes, staffing levels, drive time and levels of service
- Analyzing costs
- Identifying short-term and/or long-term needs
- Recommending options to improve efficiencies or alternative solutions based on stakeholder engagement
Community open houses, customer surveys, meetings and presentations, and interviews with key stakeholders will be scheduled to gather input as the update is developed.
