Spring Creek Nature Area, walk begins at the corner of Renner Road and Routh Creek Parkway by portal

Enjoy a relaxing morning walk along the paths through the woods of the Spring Creek Nature Area, which has a special significance in Richardson’s 150-year history. The 100-acre park was once part of a large tract of land owned by early settler Jacob Routh and his family, who came to Texas in covered wagons from eastern Tennessee in the mid-1800s, one of the earliest pioneer families in what became the town of Richardson. On the walk, learn about some of the native trees and early wildflowers still a part of the area, and hopefully get a glimpse of birds passing through SCNA on their way to their nesting grounds as the spring migration begins. In addition, you’ll hear stories about the Routh family and some of their difficulties as the first European settlers in southern Collin County.
Children ages 6 and up can attend with an adult. Parking available at the street parking off Routh Creek Parkway.
