Santa’s Village, which was scheduled to wrap up Dec. 11, will be open one more day this holiday season. The Village will be open 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 at Huffhines Park. The decision to reopen the Village was made after rain and wet grounds forced the Village to remain closed Dec. 10-11.
Visiting Santa’s Village has been a holiday tradition for many Richardson families since it first opened in 1989. With City Hall closed following a fire in August, Huffhines Park was the natural choice for hosting Santa’s Village due to abundant parking, restrooms and a paved trail that allows for easy navigation throughout the Village.
Admission and parking are free. Santa’s Village is located on the northeast side of Huffhines Park, adjacent to the softball fields and just south of Fire Station 4, 1500 Apollo Rd. The main parking lot can be accessed off Apollo Road, but alternative parking is available at the soccer fields and outside Huffhines Rec Center, 200 N. Plano Rd.
