Sales Tax Holiday for Clothing, School Supplies Begins Aug. 5

The annual back-to-school Tax Free Holiday begins Friday, Aug. 5, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 7. The event exempts most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (priced under $100) from sales and use taxes. The holiday applies to items purchased from a Texas store or from an online or catalog seller doing business in Texas. Some exclusions apply.
