The Richardson Citizens Academy and Resource Education Series (CARES) has been canceled for 2020. Begun in 2018, the free program has provided a way for people to directly access and witness Richardson’s government at work, through weekly presentations and tours held at various municipal buildings. Participants get to know the people who oversee the day-to-day operation of the departments that provide key services such as roads, water and sewer service, parks, emergency medical services and law enforcement.

The program was the fulfillment of a 2017-19 City Council tactic within the strategy “to increase the sense of community and citizen engagement.” It is usually held in the fall, with applications opening in the summer. Keep up with Week in Review and Richardson Today for future information.
