The American Planning Association Texas Chapter announced this week its list of the state’s best planning projects, advocates and communities for 2020, part of its Texas Planning Awards Program. The City of Richardson received Gold (first place) in the Best Practice Award category for the Collins/Arapaho TOD and Innovation District’s form-based code. The code, which was approved by the City Council in December, is intended to help transform the 1,200-acre District (now called the Innovation Quarter) into a visually unique, walkable and bikeable area with more flexibility for property development/redevelopment than previously existed.
Nominees were evaluated based on originality and innovation, engagement, implementation and effectiveness, quality and promotion of planning. To read more about each award category and award recipient, click here.
