RICHARDSON – Staff with the Richardson Parks and Recreation Department have created a fun activity for people called the Sidewalk Chalk Challenge which helps keep families active in the outdoors while enjoying local parks.

The game takes a little imagination and some colorful chalk to create. People can design a short or long obstacle course.  Currently, there is one obstacle course located outside the Heights Recreation Center with several stations including hopscotch, a bear crawl and a space to reach up and kiss a cloud.

“We’ve seen folks who are enjoying their local parks and of course we encourage people to continue social distancing. We want the Sidewalk Chalk Challenge to help people stay active and get to know and enjoy their local parks,” said Sarah Patton, recreation special events manager at Heights Recreation Center.

If you see or create a Sidewalk Chalk Challenge obstacle course in your neighborhood or local park take a picture and post it to social media using the hashtag #richardsonsidewalkchallenge and remember to observe social distancing guidelines when participating.  Visit www.cor.net/parks for more information.
