RICHARDSON – The Richardson City Council is sponsoring two student contests to promote, embrace and celebrate the diversity and inclusion that is present around the community.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest and Black History Month: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion Art Contest, are both opened to students who live in Richardson or attend a RISD/PISD school within the City of Richardson.
To enter the Essay Contest, students in grades 4-12 are asked to write about using the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to contribute to Richardson’s diverse community and help promote inclusion. The essay must not exceed 500 words. The deadline for the Essay Contest is 5 p.m., Fri., Jan. 29.
Students grades PreK-12 are asked to create a visual image that displays how their unique beliefs and values contribute to Richardson’s diverse community and help promote inclusion for the Art Contest. The deadline for the Art Contest is 5 p.m., Fri., Feb. 26.
