RICHARDSON – The Richardson Community Chorale is filled with talented singers who have not been able to perform together on stage since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but its new online program is helping bring back the music.
RCC’s Solo Series is a video performance that highlights each member of its ensemble about every three weeks. The video gives singers a new stage to perform and their fans new mini concerts to enjoy.
“We look at engagement, really in three ways. One where we engaged with our singers. Another where we engaged with our audience who would be people who traditionally would come to our concerts in December or around April for our spring concert. And then we see engagement branch out from there into the community,” said Ian Gill, Music Director.
For the Solo Series, singers select their favorite song. Then, they record themselves using a smart phone and with the magic of editing – they’re able to create new content, reaching a much larger audience.
The Solo Series isn’t the only thing keeping the Chorale busy. They also organized a food drive for the Network of Community Ministries and are planning a virtual performance for the Christmas holiday season.
