Private Jeff Morgan Tucker was the only African American casualty from Collin County in World War I.

His story and legacy were part of a lunchtime lecture series held recently at the Richardson Public Library.

The event was presented by the director of the Collin County History Museum, who worked to get Pvt. Tucker a grave marker in 2017 at his final resting place.

“Because we don’t have a picture of him and because we don’t have a picture of many of our fallen World War I heroes, we lose track of how to remember them. So, this is my way of making sure he is remembered,” Kristin Spalding, Operations Director for the Collin County History Museum.
