The City Council reviewed the budget proposal for the next fiscal year at the regularly scheduled work session meeting held Monday. The proposed budget for 2021-2022 totals $332,365,158, an increase of 6.1 percent over this year’s Revised Budget. The increase is due in large part to $18 million provided to the City by the federal American Rescue Plan.

The Council will vote on the budget Aug. 23. Two public hearings will be available for community input—the hearings will be held in City Council Chambers beginning at 6 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Tax rate hearing Aug. 16
  • Budget hearing Aug. 23

If adopted, the new budget would take effect beginning Oct. 1, 2021.
