Property valuation notices for 2023 will be mailed this month. All city, county and school taxes are based, in part, on property valuations determined by the central appraisal district (CAD) office. If owners disagree with the property valuation, they have the right to protest it with the central appraisal district office listed on the notice, not the city. Online or written protest for residential or commercial property must be submitted by the deadline to the county listed on your notice, on or before May 15 to the Collin Central Appraisal District or May 22 to the Dallas Central Appraisal District.

Homeowners residing in Dallas County will receive a notice in the mail from the Dallas CAD only if their property value increases, the ownership changes, the property was rendered, or the property had a capped value in the previous year. However, an appraisal notice will be available on all accounts via the Dallas CAD website, www.dallascad.org. All homeowners living in the Collin County portion of Richardson will receive a notice from the CAD of Collin County whether or not their appraisal changes. Visit www.collincad.org for more information.
