Residents in Richardson were invited to attend a progress report on the Senior Center Renovation Project.

The proposed site plan features pavement grades, accessible spaces concentrated close to entrances and ramps. It will also include landscaping and a monument sign along with 32 accessible parking spaces and 110 standard parking spaces.

“We ask them, what do you think the building needs, what are you interested in and we just made a long list of all of those items and sent them back to our architects and they filtered through all of those comments and with that we’re really able to come back with a concept that pretty much checked all of the boxes the seniors indicated,” said Lori Smeby, director of Parks and Recreation Department.

Voters approved $4,895,000 in the 2015 G.O. Bond Program for the renovation of the Senior Center.

Crews hope to begin construction winter/spring 2020.  A relocation plan will be finalized by this summer.
