City staff presented a preliminary report on property tax values to the City Council this week based on recently released tax roll figures by the Dallas Central Appraisal District and the Collin Central Appraisal District (approximately 60 percent of Richardson’s taxable value is in Dallas County and 40 percent is in Collin County).
Combined estimated property values for Richardson as of Jan. 1, 2019 were approximately $18.8 billion, compared to $16.8 billion from the final 2018 certified roll, an almost 12 percent increase.
A final certified number for 2019 will be available in late July after tax protests and other adjustments are made. Based on an analysis of City property tax data over the past five years, City staff predict that once the tax roll is certified, the year-over-year increase will drop to $18.4 billion or a 9.4 percent increase.
