Richardson’s police chief presented the City Council with the Department’s yearly review at Monday’s City Council work session. The report showed an overall decline in 2020 crime rates of 2 percent compared to 2019, including a 31 percent decline in residential burglaries. The annual National Night Out (NNO) event was also featured. This year’s NNO was transformed from front yard picnics to parade-style drive-bys of first responders, which earned the community first place national recognition in its population category from 100,000-300,000 for the amount and quality of participation for the 2020 NNO event.
