Crews from Fannin Tree Farm were on Main Street this week planting Mexican Sycamores and Autumn Blaze Maples on the sidewalks and median. The trees replace 57 trees damaged by hard freezes in 2021 and 2022.
A total of 105 trees were originally planted in 2020 and 2021 as part of the Main Street Redevelopment Project. The trees are set into specially designed, lined trenches, that contain the root systems without damaging the surrounding concrete. Each tree is watered by an automatic irrigation system, with two tree bubblers in each tree well.
