RICHARDSON – Crews installed a 28 ft. tall metal sculpture near the intersection of Main Street and Greenville Avenue at the Richardson Public Safety Campus.
The public art piece called “Rising Star” was created by Texas-based art firm RE:site and features intermeshed metal layers that form a tubular, vertical “Texas star.”
The new art piece is part of the Main Street Redevelopment project and the Public Safety Campus. Plans are for the plaza surrounding the sculpture to be lit.
“What it symbolizes is a twisting star that rises, trying to reach up to the sky, meant to act as a beacon for the community,” said Armando Arteaga, Director of Public Art, Project Manager at MetaLab Studios.
