Having an emergency plan can make all the difference when disaster strikes. As part of National Preparedness Month, we’re sharing some key practices to help you stay ready in case of a crisis.
Plan Together:
Gather your household to discuss how everyone will receive alerts and warnings, where to take shelter, and how you’ll contact and reconnect with each other if separated.
Tailor Your Plan:
Customize your emergency plan and supplies to meet your specific needs, including dietary and medical requirements, cultural and religious considerations, and any disabilities or access and functional needs, such as necessary devices and equipment.
Create a Contact List:
Include phone numbers, e-mail addresses, social media handles, school or caregiver contacts, insurance information, and a designated meeting place that’s familiar and easy to find.
Practice Regularly:
Rehearse your emergency plan to ensure everyone is prepared when it counts.
