The Mayor honored the work of two Richardson High School students this week by proclaiming Jan. 27 as “RHS Strong—Mental Health Awareness Day” and presented them with copies of the proclamation Monday. Seniors Luke Mulvey and Tamjeed Islam won first place in their district DECA (formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) competition for their work in the community on mental health awareness for teens. Luke and Tamjeed’s “RHS Strong” initiative provided wristbands to students imprinted with a text number that connects them with a text-counseling service 24/7.
DECA is a nonprofit organization that encourages the development of business and leadership skills in high school and college students through academic conferences and competitions.
