Richardson asks residents to keep cardboard clean and dry because wet cardboard is considered contamination in our recycling program and can be harder to sort and process.
Recycle cardboard in three steps:
- Keep it Dry
Wet cardboard should not go in recycling. - Break it Down
Flatten boxes so they fit inside the bag. - Bag it Blue
Place cardboard inside an official City blue recycling bag.
Trash and recycling are collected on the same day. Blue bags help crews quickly identify what is recycling while also helping protect cardboard from rain.
