Four open house community informational events have been scheduled in April to provide the community an opportunity to learn and ask questions about the City Hall Bond referendum that will appear on the May 6 General Election ballot.

The meetings are scheduled to take place on the following days and locations:

The open houses will include stations providing information about various elements of the status of City Hall. City engineers, public safety personnel and others will also be available to answer questions and provide more information. 

Speaker’s Bureau
The City of Richardson has activated its Speaker’s Bureau to provide bond election information to local groups and organizations. Speaker’s Bureau sessions are presented by members of the City Manager’s Office and can be scheduled online at www.cor.net/cityhallbondelection or by e-mailing bondquestions@cor.gov.

Election Information
Voters will be provided a proposition to decide on a General Obligation (GO) bond referendum that would raise $46 million to help pay for the construction of a new City Hall at the current City Hall location. The money raised would cover a portion of the costs for a new facility, with the rest of the projected costs expected to be funded by an insurance settlement and 2021 Bond Program funding. 

Ballot Language
The ballot will be prepared in accordance with Texas Election Code, and permit electors to vote “FOR” or “AGAINST” the measure and will appear on the ballot as follows: 

PROPOSITION A

“THE ISSUANCE OF $46,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR A NEW CITY HALL AND THE IMPOSITION OF A TAX SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF AND INTEREST ON THE BONDS”

General Election
The General Election will be held May 6, 2023 and will also include the City Council Election.

Dallas County early voting and Election Day locations have not yet been published. The Dallas County Elections Department website will list them when available at www.dallascountyvotes.org.

Voter Registration
The last day to register to vote or update your information to participate in this election, is Thursday, April 6, 2023.  (Must be postmarked by this date.)
