RICHARDSON – Dance classes at Huffhines Recreation Center are in full swing with enrolled students coming from all walks of life – from kids to teens and adults, who work as lawyers, teachers, are stay at-home moms and even a beauty queen.

“It’s just a wonderful program. It benefits not only physical aspects, but mental aspects because we have to learn so much and remember things and it helps develop my core and my overall self-esteem,” said Sheree Koester, Ms. Senior World 50’s.

Koester signed up for tap dancing lessons three years ago. In that time, she found new friends, became more active and built enough confidence to compete in her first ever pageant, which she recently won.

Her platform includes promoting things she loves, and that includes dancing at Huffhines. It’s the same feeling shared by many in the program, especially the young girls who find the newly crowned queen an inspiration.

“She is fabulous. I know I have all kinds of girls who look up to those who do pageants and see who represent it, girls and woman, who are doing awesome and amazing things in the world,” said Samantha Cinalli, Dance Instructor.

Dance classes at Huffhines include line dancing, ballet, and tap. There’s also jazz, contemporary, and hip hop. Current dance classes run through the end of May and all are still welcome to sign up.
