The Gumbo Kings blend trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, piano, trombone, bass, drums and vocals to create lively, authentic New Orleans-style music. Band members have performed with such notable musicians as Ray Charles, Paul McCartney, Woody Herman, Stan Kenton and Ellis Marsalis.

Guillen performs solos from his native Venezuela and duos with UT Dallas faculty Enric Madriguera. Repertory includes Venezuelan waltzes by Lauro, “Usher Waltz” by Nikita Koshkin and music for two guitars by Granata and Koshkin plus Latin America compositions.
