RICHARDSON – The Friends of the Richardson Public Library donated more than 600 books to the Network of Community Ministries as part of the Richardson Public Library’s Summer Reading Club where children and teens receive a gold coin after reaching a reading milestone.
Each coin collected represented a children’s book to be donated to Network.
“Network is really focused on families and community. We feel like having these books available for our clients will help bring them to the Library and also reading helps children learn and grow,” said Laurel Stanley, Special Programs Manager at the Network.
This week, the Network is starting its Mobile Food Pantry and will incorporate the donated books with the emergency food boxes provided. The truck used for the pantry is visiting four different schools within the Richardson Independent School District every week and will operate like a drive-thru where families can stop by and pick up their boxes of food.
