RICHARDSON – The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) began impounding, or capturing, water at Bois d’Arc Lake.
The 16,641-acre lake is the first major reservoir in the state in nearly 30 years. Its located northeast of the City of Bonham in Fannin County.
Impounding began when the lower gates at the raw water intake structure closed, cutting off the flow of water through the structure, and allowing the reservoir to hold water. NTMWD is Richardson’s water supplier. Bois d’Arc Lake will meet the water needs and demands of the growing region.
