There’s a shiny new ambulance at Fire Station 3, more specifically a 2021 Frazer ambulance on a Dodge chassis. The ambulance is part of a five-year replacement schedule followed by the Richardson Fire Department at every fire station; when replaced, an “old” ambulance becomes a reserve ambulance that is used when RFD front-line ambulances are out of service for one reason or another. After being a reserve ambulance for three years, the ambulances are retired, so they have an eight- year lifespan with RFD.
Fire Station 3 houses one fire engine with an aerial ladder and one ambulance. The station’s engine is also new, placed into service when the new Fire Station 3 opened last year.
