The winners of the City’s inaugural MLK, Jr. Essay Contest and “Black History Month: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion” Art Contest were recognized at Monday’s City Council meeting. Both contests were launched in January in partnership with RISD, PISD and UT Dallas, with the essay contest wrapping up in late January and the art contest concluding in March. The contests were open to students who reside in Richardson or attend any school in Richardson.

The Judging Committee, which consisted of representatives from the Richardson Cultural Arts Commission, RISD, PISD and UT Dallas as well as two members appointed by the Mayor, was also recognized.

The seven winners selected each received $100 and their works have been featured in several City media outlets including at www.cor.net/ArtandEssayContest and will be included in the May issue of Richardson Today.
