Staff from the City’s Engineering & Capital Projects Department wore blue shirts on Wednesday in recognition of Texas Flood Awareness Week, May 23-27. The annual week, sponsored by the Texas Floodplain Management Association, encourages public education about flood risks, preparedness, mitigation and recovery.
Engineering & Capital Projects has created a comprehensive website that includes flood information and FEMA flood insurance rate maps. The Engineering Department staff includes four Certified Floodplain Managers, who work day in and day out in flood damage prevention, assist property owners to determine if their property is located within a floodplain, and addresses inquiries about drainage.
