At Monday’s City Council Meeting, the Council approved an ordinance establishing a new Community Inclusion and Engagement Commission. The nine-member advisory group will serve the Council on matters pertaining to diversity, inclusion, engagement and accessibility, and create an annual report to the Council.
One of the goals of the commission is to work to advance unity, understanding and collaboration with the ever-changing diverse stakeholders who call Richardson home, and improve communication efforts with stakeholders. The commission will also assist with developing a diverse group of engaged leaders who are representative of the community.
The commission’s members will be appointed by the City Council to two-year terms. Applications will open in January for people seeking a position on the commission.
