RICHARDSON – The Network of Community Ministries is accepting donations of new or gently used coats for kids and youth around the community to help them stay warm during the next couple of months.

The Network receives coats for adults on a regular basis, but not too often do they receive coats for school age children or their younger siblings.

The organization has received several calls from school counselors and teachers trying to find coats for their students. There are some children who don’t own a coat, or others wear coats that are too small and their families could not afford to purchase a new.

“It really is an indication of the families of these children, just not being able to afford the coasts that the children need,” said Tina Floyd, Development and Marketing Director for the Network of Community Ministries.

People interested in helping, may donate gently used or new kid/youth size coats to Network by dropping items off at its main entrances Mon.-Thurs. from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
