City Manager Don Magner has announced the appointment of Yvonne Falgout as Richardson’s next Parks and Recreation Department Director. In her new role, Falgout will be responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of the City’s 1,000 acres of parkland, 90 miles of trails and diverse range of recreation, athletic and aquatic programs.

Falgout’s career spans almost 30 years in the parks and recreation industry. She began working for the City of Richardson in 2016, when she was selected to be Richardson’s Assistant Director of Recreation Services – overseeing the athletics, aquatics, community events and recreation divisions, managing a range of facilities and services including two multi-purpose recreation centers, senior center, tennis center, gymnastics center, four neighborhood pools, aquatic center and six regional special events.

She succeeds Lori Smeby, who retired from the position last month. Falgout’s first day in the new director’s role will be Aug. 1.
