City staff presented the latest design plans for the new City Hall and Municipal Campus at Monday’s City Council meeting, after a year of design development that included City Council feedback, stakeholder interviews and several opportunities for public input.
Monday’s presentation featured a closer look at exterior and interior design features, with refined conceptual artist renderings and detailed floor plans.
Highlights:
- The structure’s design is in line with the community’s desire for a modern building with a balance of glass and masonry that is cohesive with the Library, with a Council Chamber that is a focal point.
- The interior/exterior base color palette features neutral tones, with accents of “Richardson Blue” as well as copper and forest green.
- Sustainability and energy efficiency are key in the design plans and follows the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.
The design team will use feedback from Monday’s meeting as they develop construction documents. Demolition of the existing City Hall building began in May; construction on the new building is expected to begin later this year, with a groundbreaking ceremony expected in the fall.
