The Richardson City Council is again sponsoring two student contests that begin accepting entries Jan. 1: a Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest and a “Black History Month: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion” Art Contest.

Each contest is open to students (age varies by contest) who reside within the City of Richardson or attend an RISD/PISD school within the City of Richardson, and each challenges students, in different ways, to think about how they can make the world a better place. The essay contest ends Jan. 31 and the art contest ends Feb. 28. Rules and deadlines for each may be found online. Winners in each age category receive $100 and will be recognized at a future City Council meeting.
