Updated design enhancements for a major upcoming water project near UT Dallas were presented at Monday’s City Council work session. The 825 Pressure Zone Water Capacity Improvements Project will include a new 5-million-gallon ground storage tank at Point North Park and a new pump station building at the nearby North Side Pump Station II.
City Engineering staff have been working with Parks and Recreation, UT Dallas and nearby property owners in reworking the original design plans to minimize impacts to the park and improve the overall aesthetics of the project.
Changes include:
- A reduction in height of the pump station building by 10 feet, making it similar in height to residential buildings
- Landscape screening in front of fencing that utilizes tall, dense shrubs
Construction on the pump station building is expected to begin in spring 2023 with the new tank construction commencing in fall 2023. Construction on a new, 30-inch water transmission pipeline stretching from the pump station to Alma Road is expected to begin in the next few months.
