City and Richardson Chamber of Commerce staff joined consultant AECOM to present plans for Richardson’s future economic development initiatives at Monday’s City Council work session.
A redesign is planned for the Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP), a City/Chamber initiative created in 1984, which will include the creation of an Economic Development Department within the City. The new department would take on several REDP responsibilities including business attraction/recruitment, retention and expansion. The department would collaborate with AECOM in developing tactics and finalizing a new economic development strategy, as well as work with the Chamber in:
- Workforce Development,
- Entrepreneur Support,
- Small/Local Business Support, and
- Marketing and Advertising.
The Chamber would continue managing programs and services such as networking and educational programs, business mentorship and awards/recognitions.
