RICHARDSON – The local nonprofit arts organization, Chamber Music International is bringing three notable musicians together for a “Tribute to Stéphane Grappelli,” taking place this weekend.
The live event features world renowned musician Scott Tixier (jazz violin), Davy Mooney (guitar) and Matt Clohesy (double bass) who will all be performing at SMU’s Moody Performance Hall.
Grappelli was a French-Italian jazz violinist known as “the grandfather of jazz violinists,” who founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France with guitarist Django Reinhardt in 1934. It was one of the first all-string jazz bands.
The live tribute will be the Chamber Music International’s first concert of the 2020-2021 season. It will be available for streaming Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m.
