RICHARDSON – Students graduating from the Richardson Independent School District are being celebrated throughout the community since seniors will be missing the traditional pomp and circumstance due to impacts of the coronavirus.

All month RISD teachers and staff have been visiting many seniors at home to celebrate their accomplishments. This week, they are asking the businesses, organizations, homeowners and everyone around the community to get involved by showing their support for the class of 2020.

Business owners can post congratulation messages on their company website and social media channels, homeowners can tie a big ribbon of a school color around a tree, post or flagpole.

This week, RISD posted banners near each high school in Richardson to celebrate the seniors as it prepares for a different type of graduation on June 5 & 6.

“A lot of the things that we normally do to recognize our students are in person and we are not able to do that so, if we can have an outpouring of love, appreciation, congratulations and inspiration, we know we can send our seniors off in a real positive way,” said Peggy Dillon, executive director of Pearce Learning Community.
