The Richardson Mayor’s Summer Internship Program is accepting business applications through April 17. The program runs June 5-Aug. 4 and is presented by Mayor Paul Voelker and the City of Richardson, Richardson ISD and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce. It immerses current high school juniors into the professional workplace with internships at businesses, nonprofits and government agencies.

Internships, running 12-40 hours per week and paying a minimum of $12 per hour, can be virtual or on-site and should provide a real-life experience in the workplace where the student performs meaningful work assignments, shadows executives, observes company operations, and has personal contact with managers and executives regarding future career paths in the industry.
Businesses that sign up will interview students—who they have pre-selected by resume and interview video—at a job fair, scheduled for Wednesday, May 3 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Eisemann Center.

Businesses and individuals can also underwrite an intern to work at a nonprofit. Sponsors may choose the nonprofit they would like to support from RMSIP’s list of nonprofits who have applied and are seeking sponsorship.
