After applications were considered by the City Council in late 2022, several people were officially appointed/reappointed and sworn in to serve on City Boards and Commissions at Monday’s City Council meeting. Boards and Commissions represented include the Animal Services Advisory Commission, City Plan Commission, Civil Service Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Sign Control Board, and the Zoning Board of Adjustment/Buildings and Standards Commission.
Boards and Commissions are comprised of concerned citizens who volunteer their time, knowledge and expertise. They serve in an advisory capacity and make recommendations to the City Council. The process for appointments was streamlined last year and now happens once per year, with the exception of vacancies that are filled as they occur.
