The City’s outdoor warning system vendor was in the community this week conducting annual, routine maintenance on each of the City’s 22 outdoor warning sirens to make sure each siren stays in good working order. In addition, the City follows manufacturer recommendations, conducting regular tests when the weather permits, including a three-minute siren test at noon on the first Wednesday of every month and a brief short-blast “growl test” on all other Wednesdays at noon. Sirens are meant for outdoor warning during hazardous weather or other incidents.

For indoor alerts, download weather apps for your cell phone, follow @RichardsonOEM on X (formerly Twitter), and purchase a NOAA all-hazards weather radio as recommended by the National Weather Service.
