As part of the 2021 Bond Program, the Richardson Animal Shelter is undergoing renovation. The upgrades to the facility will include:
- A new main entrance.
- An entry façade
- Expanded staff offices.
- New storage rooms
- Updated staff and public restrooms
- Updated break room.
The Shelter will be closed March 4-5 to allow staff to move into a temporary facility, located adjacent to the shelter (1330 Columbia Dr.), where they will remain until construction is complete.
Once the shelter reopens, parking will be relocated to the east side of the property at an existing parking lot; entry to the Shelter from Columbia Drive will not be allowed. Signs are available to guide visitors on where to park and enter the facility.
Those who wish to adopt or visit with a dog can still do so during construction. There will be a temporary, fenced-in area for visits outside.
Construction is expected to be complete in 2025. For more details about the Shelter’s renovations, visit www.cor.net/AnimalShelter.
